Pediatric palliative care is the relief of physical, social, emotional, and spiritual suffering of a child with a life-threatening illness or disease. The goal is to ease a child’s symptoms and pain, and to help alleviate the stress that family members feel.
Our caring, experienced experts will not only take responsibility for maintaining daily tasks, but more importantly, manage a child’s symptoms and ease suffering during the course of the child's illness. Palliative care can be integrated with curative care from the time of the child's diagnosis until his or her recovery or death.
Our specially trained hospice staff is an interdisciplinary team which includes a physician, nurse, social worker, home care aide, spiritual care coordinator, a bereavement coordinator, and a trained hospice volunteer all with one goal in mind -to focus on the special needs of the child and the family.
In an effort to help a child psychologically, complementary services such as therapeutic massage, expressive art activities, puppetry, music therapy, and pet visits are offered. Our service also helps parents make special arrangements for a child’s educational needs.
